It’s my last day of interning and I am legitimately sad to be done. I’ve really enjoyed every moment of my internship. I mean, duh, I’m a lacrosse junkie. But I also really learned a lot- especially in the people skills department-being forced to conduct phone interviews was a big life lesson for me and is something I can take away from working there that will benefit me in the future.

this has nothing to do with this post but I don't care, it's staying.

Running Musings

Let’s talk about running. After conferences ended a few weeks ago last week, my legs were shot. Two days after I raced the 10k, I could barely walk up and down stairs because my calves were on fire. I took off three days from running but they still weren’t feeling up to par. My calves definitely need an extended recovery and I plan to give them that soon.

I know I need running to get me through stressful periods of time like finals week (or in this case, the week before finals), so I’m not totally shutting myself down. I am allowing myself to run a few days a week but I do not want a repeat of last year where I’m forced out of running for 6 weeks due to my overzealous need to run 9 miles a day, every day when I’ve never run that far in my life. So I’m balancing running with yoga and days off to get me through and then when I get home I’ll reevaluate.

Last week I did really well with this, running anywhere from 6-9 miles 3 days and then 15 one day. This week is going to be much less. The weather is going to be really crappy so I’m not heading out until the weather gets nicer when I’ll enjoy it more anyways. I’ll probably hit up yoga once or twice, and I plan on swimming a few times.

Say-what

You heard me. Swimming. I’m getting back in the pool to do laps for the first time in over a year. I finally feel ready to try it again and see what it’s like. I’ve been tempted to do it for a couple months now but there’s been something holding me back. I don’t know if I’ve been scared to do it or if I simply haven’t had time, but I am giving it a shot. I never thought this day would come but I’m running with it. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it, but if not, I won’t do it. The worst thing that can happen is I stop. Plain and simple.

I have no idea where I was going with this post. I guess it was just one long ramble.

Have you ever taken an extended break from something to realize you missed it?

It just happened to me with grapes. I’m glad they’re back in my life again.
