Coolest Job Ever

Originally my plan for today was to do a little WIAW: Track Meet Style. Well, that’s just not happening today since clearly whatever I ate this weekend didn’t work out so well. Instead, I thought I’d give you guys a little update on my internship with a little WIAW action thrown in because who doesn’t love a good link-up party?

wiawloveyourveggiesmonthbutton2I am obsessed with my internship. Ob-sessed. It may not be what I want to do for the rest of my life or anything, but for right now, it’s so interesting and it keeps me so entertained. That being said, Tuesdays are slightly stressful for me. Thankfully, I get to work from home on Thursdays (or whatever day I feel like working on the projects I’m assigned) so it’s only once a week that my schedule leaves me dragging by the end of the day.

At 11:15, I hop in the car and fly down to the Inner Harbor while shoveling my morning snack into my stomach

11:40-3:30 I’m at my internship. This is the relatively interesting part, to me at least.

Remember how my internship over the winter break wasn’t very exciting? This one is pretty awesome. Working for a lacrosse magazine is pretty much ideal. I’m literally surrounded by lacrosse.

I walked in on the first day and my internship advisor casually handed me a magazine and said “oh yea, here’s one of the magazines. It hasn’t been released yet” like it was no big deal. Naturally I was bursting with excitement waiting to text my mom to make my brother insanely jealous.

My favorite part about it so far is that I’m always doing something different. Last week, for example, my tasks were to update the schedules online through a host very similar to wordpress and to contact some people to write an article about a lacrosse manager that saved someone in a subway in NYC last week (I’ll post the link once it goes live on the site!), which I wrote from home Friday night. On the couch. In my pajamas.

Yesterday, I updated some lacrosse statistics, began a Division III women’s lacrosse “blog” series, and started perusing comments from the forums and articles to be featured in the actual magazine. I felt like I was blogging again with all the snarky comments I was reading.

Next week I have the opportunity to travel to Philly with the writers for a huge lacrosse tournament with the top teams in NCAA. Oh, and update the pinterest account.

Basically, my internship is filled with things I already do for fun: sports and blogging.

Okay, I’ll stop bragging. While I sat at my little cubicle, I ate out of my #lululunch, Teresa’s genius idea.

Usually I have to leave at 3 to get back for track but practice was cancelled so I stuck around for an extra half hour because I was genuinely enjoying myself.

When I got to the parking garage to finally leave, I found out the machines were broken and wouldn’t take credit cards. Well, great. Good thing I carry cash around. Not. I had to run around downtown trying to find an ATM (thank you, 7-eleven) so I could take out enough cash to pay the exorbitant fees. I don’t know about you, but $23 for less than 4 hours of parking seems a little steep to me.

The entire car ride home I was trying to decide when the best time to run was– not because I was planning on running outside (it was raining, 40 degrees, and windy), but because I needed to figure out what time my favorite shows would be on so I could suffer for an hour on the dreadmill. Of course, the second I got to the gym that plan went out the window and I ended up enjoying a relaxing 8 miles in the trails, half with Christine and half with my new boyfriend, J-Biebs. Yes, I did listen to music. It was a nice change but I don’t think I’ll be doing it very often.

I looked pretty cute when I got home…

this picture makes my feet look impossibly small…

I’m not going to bore you with the details of my night. I’ve already bored you enough with the details of my day. I will say this: if the packaging says it’s healthy, it probably won’t taste as good.

Here’s the short summary: went to my internship and played around with blogs, paid a ridiculously high price for parking downtown, went running in the rain, the end.

Have you ever had a really awesome internship?

Quick: Running on the treadmill or running in the rain and wind?
